The SAL catalog celebrates and collects the materials, some of which are unpublished, from the same exhibition, curated by Luigi Sansone and presented at the Galleria Mattia De Luca between April 6th and June 21st, 2024.
The retrospective on Salvatore Scarpitta (New York, 1919 – 2007), the first presented in Rome after the end of the 1950s, retraced all the manifestations of Sal’s work: one of the most innovative protagonists of the artistic language of the second half of the twentieth century. The catalog is accompanied by critical essays by Luigi Sansone and Peter Benson Miller, as well as by the testimony of Giorgio Franchetti, by a letter from Scarpitta to Franchetti himself and by an interview by Luigi Sansone with the artist dating back to 2001. The catalog concludes with a selection of archive material on Scarpitta’s life and exhibitions together with the list of the exhibited works.
